The Volkswagen Golf R32 represented the highest sporting spec of the Golf line. It features the heralded 3.2 liter VR6 engine that's good for 250 horses. Pair that with a four-wheel drive system and assured handling, the R32 instantly commands a class of its own in its hatchback category. The R32 rockets from 0-100km/h in 6.2 seconds, in no small part due to its seamless DSG gearbox.
 
Cosmetically, the R32 benefitted from 18" 20-spoke alloys paired with calipers finished in a lovely deep blue. The interior also received an upgrade, with semi-bucket seats for better ergonomics and driver confidence under heavy cornering.
 
With later Golf R-line cars making use of force-inducted Turbo powerplants, this R32 with its naturally-aspirated VR6 represents the very last of its breed. Produced in small numbers and delivered to Malaysia in even more miniscule amounts, an original R32 is like a needle in a haystack.
 
The R32 is a nippy hatchback that comfortably delivers decent performance and handling yet can seat 4 with plenty of boot space to spare. Ideal both as a weekend warrior or as a daily runner.
